Gillian Schultz

Why BD SUMHAC?

"I got involved with BD SUMHAC because my son has experienced a denial to inpatient mental health treatment because he has hemophilia. At the time, I thought to myself, if I could not get my son the treatment that he needed, even with all the resources I had as chapter staff and connections to our national organizations, then what about those who do not have the same resources? No one should have to deal with what we did. From then on, I have been advocating for equitable access to behavioral health facilities for people with bleeding disorders, and I am so proud of the work that this coalition has been able to do.”
