Facilities Database No Longer Active: Advocacy Success!
We are pleased to announce that due to successful advocacy efforts by BD SUHMAC, a new rule under Section 504 has been released making it illegal for behavioral health treatment facilities that accept federal funds to deny access based on a bleeding disorder diagnosis. Instead, the facility must conduct an "individualized assessment" to determine whether the facility can meet the individual's needs. As a result, this “Facilities Database” will no longer yield useful information on acceptance or non-acceptance of individuals with bleeding disorders, because all facilities that accept federal funding must say that admissions are determined on a case-by-case basis. BD SUHMAC is redirecting our efforts toward new projects that will better address current barriers to equity and access in behavioral health care for the bleeding disorders community. Thank you for your support!
